Seeing Math Differently

We need to think about math differently. Too many students do not see the beauty in mathematics. They become bored, get lost in a sea of symbols, or become discouraged because we focus on right or wrong answers. Mathematics must be presented in such a way that all students have access to the content. It should be about students discovering patterns and making connections. I try to engage students using a variety of media (especially video games) to get them to wonder about math and create their own understanding. Students need to be transformed from consumers to creators of mathematics. It is time to put up the worksheets and engage with our students in mathematics to unlock their potential. #Iteachmath #MTBOS
